Pool Courtyard

Taupō · Residential · New build

Front at duskLinear, wall and low-level lighting combine to define the entrance and façade after dark.

Pool Courtyard was delivered as a fully coordinated lighting, electrical and ducted air-conditioning project, with the services planned to sit quietly within the clean, contemporary architecture of the home.

Balance completed the full electrical installation and developed the lighting design throughout, creating a layered scheme that moves from strong architectural lighting at the entrance to softer integrated lighting within the interior.

At the front of the home, concealed linear lighting above the garage, up-and-down wall fittings and low-level lights set into the stepping-stone path create a clear, welcoming approach after dark. The lighting was positioned to emphasise the simple form of the façade without over-lighting it.

Inside, recessed lighting provides the general layer of illumination, while decorative fittings introduce character to key spaces. A feature pendant marks the high entry volume, with more subtle lighting used through the bedrooms and circulation areas.

The bathrooms were treated with particular attention to detail. Concealed LED lighting within the shower niche creates a soft, integrated glow, while a continuous ceiling-edge LED adds another architectural layer to the ensuite without relying solely on downlights.

The ducted air-conditioning system was integrated throughout the home to provide discreet year-round heating and cooling. Grilles and outlets were coordinated with the ceilings and room layouts so the system remains visually understated and does not interrupt the simplicity of the interiors.

The electrical installation was coordinated alongside the lighting and air-conditioning from the beginning, allowing power, lighting, controls and mechanical services to work together as one complete package.

The result is a clean, highly considered home where the electrical and climate systems remain largely in the background, while the lighting adds depth, warmth and definition to the architecture.
