KitchenDucted air-conditioning grilles are fully integrated into the custom joinery, keeping the ceiling and interior lines clean.
Walnut House was delivered as a fully integrated lighting, electrical and ducted air-conditioning project, with the building services carefully coordinated into the home’s extensive custom joinery.
Balance completed the full electrical installation and lighting design, while the ducted air-conditioning system was incorporated directly into the cabinetry and joinery rather than treated as a separate visible service.
The dark timber joinery became a defining architectural element throughout the home, so the lighting was designed to work within it. Concealed LED lighting was integrated beneath shelves and along cabinetry to provide soft task and ambient light, bringing out the texture and warmth of the timber while keeping the fittings themselves hidden.
In the kitchen and gallery areas, the joinery carries both the lighting and the climate-control systems. Linear air-conditioning grilles were built directly into the cabinetry, allowing conditioned air to be distributed discreetly without interrupting the clean ceiling planes or interior detailing.
The same approach continues through the hallway and bedrooms, where concealed lighting is incorporated into shelving and bedhead joinery to create a warmer, lower-level layer of light in the evening.
The electrical installation was coordinated closely with the cabinetry, lighting, appliances and air-conditioning system from the beginning, ensuring power, controls, cabling, grilles and lighting could all be resolved as part of the interior rather than added afterwards.
The result is a highly integrated home where lighting, electrical and climate systems are almost absorbed into the joinery — providing comfort and functionality while allowing the architecture and materials to remain the focus.
