House at duskArchitectural lighting defines the brick and timber forms while the interiors glow through the full-height glazing.
Cedar Cube House was delivered as a fully coordinated lighting, electrical and ducted air-conditioning project, with each system designed to sit cleanly within the architecture of the home.
Balance completed the full electrical installation and lighting design, developing a layered scheme that works with the home’s pale brick, dark cladding, warm timber and large areas of glazing.
Externally, up-and-down wall lights graze the brickwork and emphasise the height and texture of the façade after dark. Around the deck, pool and landscaped areas, lighting was positioned to provide practical illumination while maintaining a warm, understated atmosphere. As evening falls, the interior lighting becomes part of the exterior composition, glowing through the full-height glazing and connecting the living spaces with the pool and outdoor areas.
Inside, the kitchen lighting combines functional and architectural elements. A slim linear pendant provides focused light over the island, while concealed LED beneath the overhead cabinetry creates an even wash across the work surfaces and highlights the joinery. Recessed lighting throughout the open-plan spaces provides the general layer of illumination without competing with the clean interior lines.
The ducted air-conditioning system was integrated into the home to provide discreet year-round heating and cooling. Linear grilles were coordinated with the ceilings and joinery so the system remains visually understated while maintaining comfortable airflow throughout the main living and bedroom areas.
The electrical installation was planned alongside the lighting and air-conditioning systems from the beginning, allowing power, switching, mechanical services and lighting to be coordinated as one complete package.
The result is a home where lighting, electrical and climate control work quietly together — enhancing the architecture by night while keeping the interiors clean and uncluttered.
